It has been a VERY busy, but wonderful day today. I'm going out to enjoy more of it shortly, but I thought I would share a few quick photos of some wonderful gifts we have received:


Miss Erica and one of her classmates made us these beautiful woodland fairy houses. I know the children will be delighted to create a space for them, and perhaps a few fairies too!



The wonderful Donna over at Irresistible Ideas for Play Based Learning sent us this amazing package! Donna and I made a deal, we were going to trade soap. Apparently, you cannot find Ivory soap in Australia. I am unable to find soap flakes.... So, Donna sent a box of soap flakes along with all kinds of great Australian things and I sent her a package in return.  Dane is absolutely LOVING all of the cool little Australian animals. I know the children are really going to love exploring all of these new goodies, and making "THE BEST SLIME EVER!"  As much as I want to tear that box of soap flakes open, I think it is going to have to wait until next week.

I'm off to enjoy this amazing evening. I hope you are enjoying yours too.

Amy I'm so glad the package finally arrived ... and all in one piece! I hope the children have fun with the books and animals. We certainly have some amazing native birds and animals her in Australia ... ENJOY!!!

BTW Those little fairy gardens are awesome ... just the right size for a few little Aussie natives too I'm guessing! :)

"The Markers Don't Work!"

How may times have you heard, "Ms. (fill your name in here), this marker doesn't work!" I know I hear it all the time. Sometimes it is because our little friends forget to replace the caps, and sometimes the markers have just been "all used up!" What do you do with all those markers that just don't work? Please don't tell me that you throw them out, try this instead: First, sort your markers out. Put the caps in one container ( save those too, I'll show you what you can do with them in tomorrow's post) and the markers in another. I have a box for the markers that "don't work" for the children to place them into every time they run across one. You can also have the children help you test the markers periodically to sort out the ones that need to be removed from the "working set." When it comes time to use "the markers that don't work," we use a small sponge paint roller to roll water onto our card...
