We've been on a crafting kick as we roll full swing into December and the holiday season. We only have 11 days of school before we are closed for our winter break. The children have been making lots of ornaments for the 4C of the U.P. Great Start Regional Resource Center to use to decorate a tree at the Peter White Public Library.
One of my "old standby" favorite easy winter crafts is to make paper gingerbread people. The children have the opportunity to trace a pattern, cut it out, color, punch, lace and stuff their creations. For some of the younger children pre-cut shapes were provided.
The children really enjoyed coloring, especially with the scented markers!
The lacing is always the most challenging part, but a lot of fun! Each of the children chose their own colors of yarn, and we spent hours making these cute little creations! (Of course we made some to give away and some to keep!)
Here is an update on our tissue paper and glue ornaments. The camera does not do them justice- they do sparkle quite nicely.Stay tuned for more crafting fun! Oh, and we have decided that even though we will not be home for the holidays, we will be decorating a tree :).
